Welcome to the Western Mass Turtle Rescue, we are here to provide support for you and our sometimes not so small shelled friends.
Our goal is to make sure all turtles, tortoises, and terrapins are properly taken care of and that there is a home for those who need it. Many people do not have the time or capacity to take care of these wonderful animals and we are here to establish loving homes and support.
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, shelter/home/house any turtle, tortoise, or terrapin that comes our way. We provide a loving "shelled" family with proper care, plenty of food, spacious dry/aquatic habitat for happy living conditions, exercise, and breeding/hatchery habitat during mating seasons when necessary.
To accomplish our goal and our mission, we cannot do it alone, we need YOUR help! If you have experience and knowledge of proper care for various species of turtle/tortoise/terrapin and are able to house a turtle/tortoise/terrapin or several over time, please feel free to email us your phone number and we'll gladly add you to our network of contacts whenever there is a shelled pet without a home.
If you have an unwanted, or an unable to care for turtle/tortoise/terrapin and are looking for a new home for your pet where it will be loved, well taken care of, and amongst the company of other shelled creatures of its kind, you have come to the right place. We cater to local residents of the Western Massachusetts area, but have also made live-animal shipping arrangements for our not-so-local patrons with pets in need of a great home. If you are interested in adopting a turtle/tortoise/terrapin, please visit our "Adoptions Needed" tab to view animals that are currently up for adoption.
In our "Rehabilitation and FAQ" section you may find answers to your "Frequently Asked Questions" regarding turtle care and home remedies. In our "Care Sheets" tab you will find a collection of care sheets for individual species or turtle/tortoise/terrapin. This will be an ever increasing database to help you know what to expect and how to properly care for your pet. If you do not see your species of turtle/tortoise/terrapin please feel free to inquire about your pet and we will answer all of your questions as well as work on posting that information on our site for future references. Note that our site is under constant renovation and there are so many species of shelled creatures and that is it almost impossible to create care sheets for them all, but we will try our best, posting the most common pets as a priority.
In our discussion forum on this site you can ask questions or discuss turning your pet over to the rescue. Please do not try to sell your pet on our site, re-homing fees covering medical expenses and shipping fees are OK, please do not use our site as a classified section, that's not what we're here for.
We also have a gallery we are creating on here to display some of the member animals in our organization. Feel free to add yours too!!! Note: the pets in this gallery are not up for adoption, to seek pets for adoption, please view the "Adoptions Needed" tab.
